Buy a DAF truck or tractor unit
DAF builds trucks for city distribution, regional transport, construction transport and long-distance work. On the used market, the current XB, XD, XF and XG series sit alongside previous generations such as LF, CF and XF105 or XF106.
First choose the application and then look at the cabin, chassis and drivetrain. The same DAF series can be offered as a tractor unit, box truck, tipper, container truck or other constructed chassis.
XB, XD, XF, XG and XG+
The compact XB is aimed at urban and distribution work. The XD can be widely used for distribution and specialist applications. XF, XG and XG+ have been developed for heavy and long-haul transport, with the XG cabs offering more interior space.
For construction and site work there are versions such as XBC, XDC and XFC. For such a vehicle, check not only the model series, but also ground clearance, drive, axle loads and preparation for the body.
LF, CF and earlier XF generations
In the used range, the LF remains common in light and medium-duty distribution. The CF has been widely used as a tractor unit and built-up chassis. With the XF, traders often distinguish between generations such as XF95, XF105 and XF106.
This generation designation is relevant for the cabin, engine, emission technology and parts. Therefore, check year of manufacture and chassis information instead of relying solely on the rounded model name.
What should you check when buying a used DAF?
The value of a DAF is strongly determined by the combination of cabin, axle configuration, engine power, transmission and structure. For international work, sleeper cabin and tank contents weigh differently than for daily distribution.
- Model series, generation and correct type designation.

- Cab variant, engine power, transmission and retarder.
- Emission class, mileage and maintenance history.
- PTO, hydraulics and preparation for the existing superstructure.
