Buying a crane: what should you pay attention to?
A crane is not just about maximum lifting capacity. Working range, load diagram, surface, transport dimensions, outriggers and maintenance determine whether a machine can be used safely and profitably.

Do I choose a mobile crane or truck-mounted crane?
A mobile crane is designed for independent lifting work with large reach and capacity. A truck-mounted crane combines transport and loading, but has a different load diagram and usually less capacity on long outreach.
Why doesn't the maximum lifting capacity say everything?
The specified maximum load usually applies close to the crane and in a specific configuration. Compare the load diagram with the required outreach, lifting height, boom length and outrigger position you need.
What role do outriggers and ground conditions play?
Outriggers transfer the lifting forces to the ground and partly determine the available capacity. Check outrigger spread, support plates, ground pressure and whether the work area is level and load-bearing.
What should I inspect on a used crane?
Inspect the boom, welds, pins, ropes, winches, cylinders and slewing ring for wear and leaks. Ask for operating hours, maintenance history, faults, load records and valid inspection documents.
Why are transport dimensions and total weight important?
A crane must also be able to be moved between jobs. Check axle loads, counterweight, dimensions and any transport permits according to the countries and routes where you work.
